Birds of Interior Alaska
Songbirds: Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Regulus calendula

The red crown patch of this tiny Kinglet is rarely visible in its woodland habitat.

However, occasionally a male in breeding plumage will display
an amazingly large, bright-red crown.

Kinglets are in nearly constant motion while foraging for food, making them a challenge to photograph.
