Mr. G's Class Schedule for 2006/2007

Hello Parents and my young Scholars,
Here's a rough outline of how any given day may be arranged, including days and times for our specials.

Time

Descriptions~~ with the usual disclaimer~~ Things don't always go as planned but we'll relax and smile as we adapt our days around the unexpected training in versatility.

7:50

Prepare for school ~
"Entrance Ticket":answer an academic question such as name a "conjunction", what moon phase has no sunlight on it? etc
1. Check in (attendance, hot/cold lunch), 2. put gear away, 3. sharpen pencils, 4. go potty

7:55

Attendance ~ Students not in the classroom at 8:00 a.m. are reported as Absent. If your child is late, please send them to the office to sign in. Office staff will call to check on children who have not arrived, as well as those who arrived but didn't check in at the office. Timeliness is especially important as children are supposed to be at their reading class at 8:00 a.m.

8:00-9:30

Success For All Reading ~ Students review letter sounds and word decoding strategies as they work on Word Mastery, Comprehension, Fluency and Expression in their reading. (Children who arrive late should go directly to their reading class after checking in at the office.)

9:30-10:10

Specials ~ Mon/Wednesday~P.E. with Mr. Morrison, Tues/Thurs~Music with Mrs. Landon, Friday~Library with Mrs. Tilton.
Students should wear shoes set aside for PE and please, no dresses on PE days.

10:10-10:30

Potty break, Handwashing, Snack (students should bring their own nutritious snack.) Story....

10:30-11:10

Math Concepts and practice

11:15-12:00

Lunch and Recess are supervised by an aide while the teacher has a period to eat, attend meetings, run copies, grade papers and so on.

12:00-12:15

Recess will be outside on the playground . Students are expected to dress appropriately for play in outdoor weather conditions to -20 F.

12:15-12:30

DEAR (Drop Everything And Read)

12:30-1:30

Math Concepts (...continued) and math games

1:30-2:10

Read Naturally Tutoring Block/ Mon.: Social studies, Tues.: Language Arts, Wed.: Science, Thur.: Spelling Test, Fri.: Art

2:10-2:15

Dress for home

2:15

Silly Songs/Science Nuggets/ or Class Meeting with Mr. Gilbert

2:20

Dismissal, reveal the "Entrance Ticket" for the following day.
