Birds In Alaska
Waterfowl: American Widgeon
Anas americana
American Widgeon are common summer migrants in the interior of Alaska. Easily identified in flight by the white triangles on their wings. Their nickname "bald pate" refers to the white stripe on top of the male's head (below) which is visible even in dim light.
