"Don't put strength or speed into the movements yet, that will come later." Soshihan Scott, and Professor Abels

A few thoughts from my aiki journal...

"Breathe, relax, and have fun!"

I need to keep working on the basics: proper hanmi with hips squared up, sliding the feet (stay "rooted" with knees bent and heels down), check footwork frequently while working on a line.

Check for proper hand positions: 'pinky' finger of the "belt-hand" should be able to touch the end of the jo; hands one hand-grip apart. Visualize my opponent to keep the mind focused and extension where it belongs. JG
